PacWest Weekly Awards (Mar. 17)
IRVINE, Calif. – For the second straight week, Academy of Art men's golf junior
Julius Kreutzer has been recognized as the Pacific West Conference Golfer of the Week after he finished in second place at the Pioneer Shootout with a 1-under-par 143. The award is for tournaments played from Mar. 12-16.
Just one week
after he earned his first weekly award of the season by
winning the NNU Nighthawks Invitational, Kreutzer followed up that performance by nearly winning his third straight tournament
after ending as the runner up by tying the lowest single-round score at the Pioneer Shootout
with a 4-under-par 68 (along with fellow junior and teammate
Matthew Watkins). During the tournament, Kreutzer combined for the best Par-5 scoring at 8-under-par, sank the second-most birdies in the tournament with nine (trailing only the 11 by Watkins), and was one of 12 players to record an eagle. The 68 he carded in the final round is also his lowest round total this season.
While it is the second time ART U men's golf has received a weekly honor this season, it is the fourth time receiving the award in Kreutzer's career (also: 2021 –
Mar. 11; 2020 –
Mar. 12; 2019 –
Oct. 10).
