2024 NCAA Division II Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars
NORMAN, Okla. – The record-setting season for Academy of Art men's golf junior
Giulio Zanichelli continues to bring in the accolades, as he has been named a 2024 NCAA Division II Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars as announced on Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination in NCAA Division I and II, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
While maintaining a 3.54 cumulative grade point average in the School of Industrial Design, Zanichelli had an athletic season for the books, making a run all the way to the NCAA Division II National Championship on May 23. On his way to the year's final tournament, Zanichelli battled his way through the NCAA DII West/South Central Regionals on
May 11 and Pacific West Conference Championship on
Apr. 17, where he would finish in third place in both events to further his run. Prior to the postseason, Zanichelli was already showing his dominance in his career-best campaign, as he won the PCH Invitational outright individually on
Feb. 13, broke numerous personal records, and recorded three other top 10 finishes en route to his impressive year.
With stunning scores came astounding awards as Zanichelli was named the PacWest Player of the Year by the conference, while he was additionally named to the All-PacWest First Team for the first time in his respective career. This season, Zanichelli also earned a
PacWest Golfer of the Week honor and made the
2024 PacWest All-Tournament Team before also being named as the
Pacific West Conference Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete Of The Year.
It is the first time in Zanichelli's career receiving this award, and he is the 14th Urban Knight to receive the award in program history.
