2020-21 GCAA Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars
NORMAN, Okla. – Academy of Art men's golf continues to collect postseason accolades after a 2020-21 campaign highlighted by its PacWest Championship, as the Golf Coaches Association of America has recognized ART U as an All-Academic Team while also honoring five Urban Knights as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars. Earning the selections were seniors
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc and
Otto Homruen, along with juniors
Julius Kreutzer,
Matthew Watkins, and
Zhane Chan.

This was the sixth consecutive All-Academic Team honor for Academy of Art. With a 3.14 cumulative grade point average, ART U was one of just two schools in the PacWest to receive the All-Academic Team Award and 23 across Division II. The recognition is given to any men's golf program with a cumulative grade point average over 3.00 for the academic year.
For the second straight year the Urban Knights have had five All-American Scholar honors, tying the ART U record that was set last season by the
same five Urban Knights, while it is the third consecutive season that ART U has had at least two All-American Scholars. This is the third time receiving the honor in the career of De Leon Manotoc, the first Urban Knight in program history to do so, as he also won the award along with Lawrence Liang in 2018-19. Meanwhile, it is the second time receiving the award in the careers of Homruen, Kreutzer, Watkins, and Chan. Leading the way in grade point average was Kreutzer, as the junior owns a 3.71 in the School of Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media, while just behind him is Chan with a 3.69 in the School of Communications & Media Technologies. Also in the School of Communications & Media Technologies are De Leon Manotoc (3.47) and Watkins (3.22), while Homruen boasts a 3.44 in the School of Graphic Design.

Kreutzer also led the way on the course, posting the lowest average round score in ART U history with a 71.88 over seven tournaments en route to being named the
2021 PacWest Golfer of the Year and a
2021 GCAA NCAA DII PING All-American Team Honorable Mention, while also being selected to the
2021 All-PacWest First Team and the
2021 GCAA NCAA DII PING All-West Region Team. The three-time PacWest Golfer of the Week (
Mar. 11,
Mar. 17,
Apr. 15) took first place or runner-up in five of his first six tournaments, including
placing second at the PacWest Championship before he tied for sixth in the final action of the year at the
NCAA DII West/South Central Regional. His lowest round of the year came in the first round of
Sonoma State Spring Invitational, shooting a five-under-par 67 to open the tournament before going on to set the lowest two-round score in ART U history with a 135.
Following that was Watkins with an average round score of 74.41, notching four top-5 finishes on the season including a runner-up placing at the
Bay Area Invitational to open the season for his best finish of the campaign. Twice this year he shot a 68 in a single round, his lowest single-round of the year, and showed well at the PacWest Championship where he placed third with an even-par 210. With the finish, Watkins has collected the most top-10 finishes in ART U history with 10.
De Leon Manotoc would end his year with an average round score of 75.65, earning a pair of top-10 finishes including taking sixth place at the PacWest Championship to earn a spot on the
2021 PacWest All-Tournament Team. Three times this season he shot an even-par 72 for his lowest round of the year, including doing so in back-to-back rounds at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational for his lowest two-round score of the campaign (144). Rounding out the squad was Homruen, who averaged a 76.06 in seven tournaments in 2021. His best finish of the year was ninth place, which he did so three times, the last of which came at the
Academy of Art Invitational.
